Energy for Food Security Innovation Challenge – World Food Programme

The Innovation Challenge aims to identify scalable global energy solutions​​ to be implemented with WFP in Niger. The selected team (startup or NGO) will receive up to US $250,000 in funding, as well as hands-on support, and connections to the WFP Niger office and partners. The organisation should have an existing operational presence or be willing to establish a presence in Niger.

The challenge is focusing on the following themes:

  • Energizing homes in displacement settings​​ – innovations that provide access to clean cooking and solar lighting for IDPs and host communities.
  • Energizing school meals – institutional cookstoves that effectively reduce cooking time at schools.
  • Energizing farmer organizations – innovations that enhance grain processing and preservation efficiency for farmers organizations.
