Clean Cooking Activities
RSF has established a large network across the country with its 486 field offices and about 3000 entrepreneurs; and developed a group of 200 woman entrepreneurs at village level in Bangladesh able to continue clean energy business in a sustainable manner. Till today, RSF has installed more than 575000 SHS, 2588 biogas plants and 200,000 ICS in rural areas. RSF has built partnership with local women entrepreneurs and entities in North West Part of Bangladesh and create access to ICS for the bottom of the pyramid.
RSF has taken a number of innovative actions developing women entrepreneurs under “WE DO” program in clean energy business. Currently RSF has been distributing more than 30,000 ICS per month showing the best practice involving local enterprise and women entrepreneurs in a successful manner under IDCOL program. The new approach inspires other POs of IDCOL to follow the similar business approach under its energy efficient program.
Partnership
Rural Services Foundation has been doing ICS business with the following approach and worked with both local enterprise and women entrepreneurs: i) Promote entrepreneurs through training and building awareness, ii) Engage entrepreneurs and promoters integrating business and job opportunities, and iii) Create access through transforming technology and driving excellence of entrepreneurs. The ICS value chain operation encompasses many dimensions ranging from procurement, production, transportation distribution to after sales service, ICS preferences. RSF has worked with Rahimafrooz Renewable Energy in GACC-RRE ICS pilot project and learned a lot of insights regarding ICS promotion and distribution engaging women entrepreneurs and local partner NGOs.
However, it has been simplified with three major aspects to achieve the program objective of RSF: availability, accessibility and utilization of ICS. It has been networking in partnership with rural private entity, women entrepreneurs, government and donor. The project has taken program to develop women entrepreneurs and local organizations providing training and start up tools with a view to exploit the local existing manufacturing and sales facilities. RSF has more than 300 women entrepreneurs out of which 58 women trained on clean energy business especially for rural sales and marketing of ICS products.
