Terms of Reference: Inclusive eCooking for People with Disabilities (PwD)
MECS is seeking an organisation/consortium to conduct a study on inclusive eCooking for people with disabilities. The key aim of this research is to generate robust, context‑specific evidence on how inclusive eCooking technologies can enhance the cooking experience, wellbeing and economic opportunities of PwD, and to inform policy, standards and market mechanisms that ensure no one is left behind in the eCooking transition.
Eligible countries for this study are: Ghana, Ethiopia, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, or Zambia.
The research is expected to commence no later than 1st October 2025. All deliverables must be completed and delivered no later than 15th February 2026.
The total budget is a maximum of £38,000 (including any local taxes). Payment is contingent on successful completion of all deliverables.
Team requirements:The study team must include leadership or co-leadership from an organisation/NGO/Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO) active in the chosen study area. If this organisation is not the contractual lead, then a signed letter of support must be included as part of the response. Consortiums of DPOs/NGOs and research organisations/individuals are encouraged.
Proposals: (max 14 pages, plus CVs) should be emailed to mecs@lboro.ac.uk with subject “Inclusive e‑Cooking for PwD – Proposal” by 23:55 BST, on Wednesday 20th August 2025. The time will be determined using the time of arrival in the MECS inbox. Any offers received after 23:55 will be rejected.
