The United Nations Foundation’s Energy Access Practitioner Network, in partnership with the Clean Energy Solutions Center, is hosting a no-cost, webinar-based training to showcase work underway in Haiti to support energy access using off-grid renewable energy. This webinar is part of the broader energy access work the UN Foundation is undertaking within the UN and the World Bank’s Sustainable Energy for All initiative.

The webinar will explore the current energy access situation in Haiti and efforts underway to increase access with three illustrious panelists:

• Dr. René Jean-Jumeau, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, in Charge of Energy Security, Government of Haiti

• Ms. Allison Archambault, President of EarthSpark International

• Ms. Michelle Lacourciere, CEO of Sirona Haiti and Director of Sirona Cares Foundation

Dr. Jean-Jumeau will present on the Haitian government’s electrification efforts to date and the success of current programs such as “Ban m limyè, Ban m lavi” (“Give me light, give me life”). Ms. Archambault and Ms. Lacourciere will discuss their organizations’ activities to help scale up energy access in Haiti in tandem with the government’s efforts.

The presentations will be followed by a question and answer session where participants will have the opportunity to ask the panelists about details of the rural electrification model in Haiti and how it can be scaled up and applied to other contexts.
