Radha’s Message

Dear Friends,

Earlier this month, the Alliance announced that our new CEO Dymphna van der Lans would be succeeding me in April. The Leadership Council and I feel confident passing the reins to Dymphna at this important time, as I know Dymphna will continue to build on the hard-fought momentum we’ve all achieved over the past seven years. Dymphna is a dynamic and high energy leader, and her extensive leadership and innovation in the nonprofit and private sectors match well with the Alliance’s market-based approach. I know she looks forward to working with you soon.

Dymphna van der Lans named Alliance CEO

Dymphna van der Lans will join the Alliance as CEO starting April 23. Dymphna brings more than 25 years of experience managing and leading global development, energy, and climate initiatives in the nonprofit and private sectors.

Alliance selects first four businesses for Spark+ Program support

Four businesses in East Africa and Southeast Asia have been selected for support from the Spark+ program. Spark+ works to build the pipeline of investment-ready companies in the clean cooking sector.

Alliance to help lead new clean cooking program in Nepal

Together with the Government of Nepal and many partners, the Alliance will help lead the first national clean cooking program in Nepal. The program will focus on strengthening the supply of available clean cooking technologies and creating demand through a series of behavior change communication activities, all in an effort to build smoke-free communities in Nepal.

The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves is a United Nations Foundation-hosted public-private partnership to save lives, improve livelihoods, empower women, and protect the environment by creating a thriving global market for clean and efficient household cooking solutions. The Alliance’s goal calls for 100 million households to adopt clean and efficient stoves and fuels by 2020. The Alliance is working with over 1800 public, private, and non-profit partners to accelerate the production, deployment, and use of clean cookstoves and fuels in the developing world.
