Clean Cooking Alliance to Co-Host First-Ever Clean Cooking Investment Forum

The countdown is on to the 2018 Clean Cooking Investment Forum (CCIF)!

This first-of-its-kind event, co-hosted by the Clean Cooking Alliance and Energy Private Developers (EPD) Rwanda, will be held in Kigali, Rwanda on November 5 and 6. As part of the Alliance’s global efforts to drive engagement and investment in clean cooking solutions, the Forum will bring together business leaders, investors, government officials, donors and others to discuss innovative business models, financing approaches and policy.

The goal of the 2018 CCIF is to discuss and facilitate collaboration around scalable and financially viable clean cooking solutions. While growth of the industry has faced challenges, innovative and scalable business models are now emerging – particularly those that integrate technology and focus on fuel supply. These companies need risk-tolerant debt, equity and grant investment and technical assistance to further demonstrate their viability at scale. The CCIF will provide a platform for such pioneers, and offer investors and policymakers a comprehensive view of the sector landscape, particularly in East Africa, which continues to be a hub for innovation.

This two-day event will include a range of focused panel discussions and networking opportunities, including a B2B matchmaking session. The full agenda can be viewed here. Registration is open until November 5. As a part of the Rwanda Sustainable Energy Week 2018, CCIF participants will also receive a special discount code for the Unlocking Solar Capital Africa conference, which will take place on November 7 and 8, immediately following the CCIF.

The Alliance is grateful for the generous support of the Ministry of Infrastructure Rwanda (MININFRA), the European Union, the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), GIZ Energizing Development program (EnDev), the Shell Foundation, SNV, BFZ, and the Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Program (RECP).

The Alliance team is looking forward to meeting with partners and friends to continue discussions around how to accelerate progress in this nascent but evolving space. See you in Kigali!

The Clean Cooking Alliance works with a global network of partners to build an industry that makes clean cooking accessible to the three billion people who live each day without it. No one’s life should be limited by how they cook. Yet, cooking over open fires and polluting stoves causes widespread health, environmental, and economic impacts. Women and girls are disproportionately affected, spending hours cooking, inhaling toxic smoke, and collecting fuels like wood and animal dung. The Clean Cooking Alliance is working to mitigate these far-reaching impacts by: driving consumer demand for cleaner-burning stoves and fuels; building a pipeline of investible businesses capable of answering this demand with affordable, high-quality, appropriate products; improving the policy environment to allow the sector such businesses to thrive; and 4) increasing investment community participation and global sector engagement.
