Clean Cooking Activities

Reduction in cook stove smoke will be achieved by using fans to create forced-draft. Forced-draft ventilation allows for immediate benefits such as a reduction of smoke in the eyes and lungs. Oxyring™ improves combustion and convection efficiencies by providing variable speed control of the oxygen supply needed for complete combustion, and by directing the flow of convection heat to the most effective areas. This reduces solid fuel consumption and thereby, produces less smoke. Additionally, forced-draft ventilation via the provided ductwork and capture hood will exhaust harmful gases and smoke out of interior spaces. The combustion and convention improvements means individuals, particularly women and children, will spend less time and money gathering fuel each day. The solution offered by Tree of Life 1.0™ and Oxyring™ will utilize inexpensive electric fans which can readily integrate into traditional cooking systems, and are powered by the integrated solar panels and battery storage provided with the product. Both devices seamlessly integrate into existing cook stoves without requiring major modification or change in cultural cooking practices.

Partnership

Tree of Life Systems would like to design and manufacture an affordable combined-benefit device that meets the goals of Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves. If Tree of Life 1.0™ and Oxyring™ were easily available to developing areas, the risk of respiratory illness would drastically decrease through the use of forced draft ventilation. In addition, the amount of time and money spent collecting fuel each day would also decrease. This would be achieved by use of Oxyring™ technology which improves combustion and convection efficiencies. In the long run, this allows more time for personal developments which could eventually lead to raising the education and living standards for developing areas.
