Clean Cooking Activities

FED's interest in coming to this partnership is to promote the use of clean energy that is less hazardous to human health on the one hand while protecting our environment through promoting tree planting and preservation and enhancement of rural household livelihood. In this regard, FED is promoting the use of charcoal briquettes produced from crop residues. The use of crop residues as raw materials for charcoal briquettes does not only produce clean energy, but more importantly saves upto 15 kilogrames of firewood per household per day.
FED’s main activities include Training: FED trains households especially rural based on the use and production of charcoal briquettes from crop residues. This also includes environmental protection campaigns and tree planting activities.
Equipment Support: FED also provides equipment support to the social groupings especially women and youth groups so as to enhance their capacity
Provision of Farm inputs: FED also provides inputs such as seeds, seedlings, etc to farmers and rural households.
Sensistisation: FED also engages in community sensitization and mass awareness creation for behavioral change.

Partnership

FED’s overall goal in this partnership is to help contribute solutions to the world’s health challenges arising from the use of unclean energy and also the associated environmental/climate change threats.
FED being an implementer on the ground would like to forge partnerships with donors who can potentially fund its activities. FED would also like to benefit from capacity development through trainings, workshops, interactions and partnerships. Through this partnership FED would like to learn and also share its own experiences and challenges with other players in this field. Through this way, they can come up with common solutions and/or a better understanding of the appropriate interventions.
FED is also ready and keen to partner with manufactures and suppliers of clean cook stoves as its agents and/or retailers especially in Northern Uganda once the opportunity obtains.
Finally FED would like to be part of this partnership so as to embrace new challenges and opportunities as and when they obtain.
