Clean Cooking Activities

The patented Kolamba Solar Cooker was developed with Inventas (Kristiansand) in 2010 and tested in three African countries in 2011 and 2012. In 2013 we have a patent pending of a hybrid clean cooking stove that combines a gasifying stove with a solar cooker stove, creating a range of synergies between the two. The gasifying stove works together with a modified version of our patented solar cooker from 2010.
Heliso has this fall made a Memorandum of understanding with the Strømme Foudation. They have together with Oxfam America and Freedom for Hunger designed the “Saving for Change program†that now operates in 13 different countries supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. ® In Mali where it all started in 2005 they currently have more than 18 800® groups serving 423 000 women and families. ® The partnership with the Strømme Foundation fits us very well and gives us the potential to scale up the distribution of the hybrid clean cooking stove to countries in which the Strømme Foundation currently have their Saving for Change program. These countries are Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Uganda, South-Sudan and Tanzania.

This fall our hybrid cooking stove also attracted attention from a team of five students from The Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, and they have been doing an innovation project this fall from September to November.®  Agreement is also made with SINTEF, to test the emission from this cooking stove on their labs in early 2014. SINTEF is a leading research centre on renewable energy topics in Scandinavia.

According to our mission statement we also see the importance of local ownership and support development for businesses to create a sustainable development. ® Our mission is to protect the environment and climate and do what we can to reduce CO2 emissions.
