Clean Cooking Activities

The Centre for Rural Development (CRD) was formed in 2011, as a CBO/NGO and works with six villages in the Lake Bunyonyi Watershed, SW Uganda. Using farmer-field schools as our entry point we helped form a an Advisory Council and SACCO. Farmers are addressing land degradation and deforestation and the SACCO enables farmers to access capital for improved agricultural inputs and, over time, other income generating activities. We originally sold and the Jiko Poa and Enviro 3300 and are now ready to become a a distributor/implementer in this region.

Partnership

CRD is advancing participatory, community-based programs in the Kabale District. Our organization is growing with deliberate progress ensuring our methodologies and interventions are measurable and replicable. Advancing low carbon technologies (improved cookstoves and home-scale solar) are part of our future. We are now in a position to develop partnerships that help us scale up these ventures to meet the rural demand. Women are core to our capacity building efforts and will be instrumental in creating a sustainable service provider network.
