Clean Cooking Activities

We intend to promote sustainable development in communities especially in the reduction of tree falling activities for firewood and its adverse effect on the environment/climate through sensitization for behavioural change. By encouraging the use of clean energy/cook stoves, we hope to reduce the quantity of tress cut, its associated environmental problems such as erosion and health challenges related to the use of firewood, charcoal et cetera by undertaking the following activities:
1. Awareness creation/Sensitisation
2. Demonstration
3. Access to Financing
4. Market linkage between users and manufacturers/vendors.

Partnership

Collaborative Living and Development Initiative (COLIDEIN), as an organisation would like to be an implementing partner with cleanstoves to promote her programmes in the rural communities by creating awareness/sensitisation, their capacity on clean energy/maintenance and provide market development. We are already in communication with some cookstoves and clean energy vendors for possible partnership. We hope to create a platform of synergy and market linkage among all stakeholder especially beneficiaries and provide research documentation/database.
In our previous projects, we have been able to empower communities through the identification of possible agric-business and non-agric related economic development opportunities/activities that they can get involved in especially women and youths. For example, the fish/snail farming project at Abuloma community with funding from Plan International U.S.A.
COLIDEIN has also worked with DAI in its market development and financing for its improved oil palm harvesting equipment /processing mills. We promote the use of locally fabricated harvesting / processing technologies for the oil palm farmers / millers like the Adjustable Mechanised Harvester, and offer access to finance for the farmers. This invariably improves efficiency / effectiveness leading to increased products and income and ultimately advance their economic opportunities.
