Clean Cooking Activities

AVSI started dealing with Clean cooking promotion and with carbon finance in 2013 through its peculiar approach based on the following:
• Deep and holistic knowledge of community needs also through proximity (presence within, doing with, participation) to the targeted beneficiaries and through comprehensive market studies and cooking behaviour assessments
• Strengthening of the local value chain (Business management, technical expertise, improved technologies and production processes, equipment, marketing and sales skills and tools)
• Demand activation and, especially, behavioural change campaigns
• Accurate realistic and transparent monitoring and impact evaluation (Survey, KPT, Air quality, SDGs) also towards carbon credits issuance
• ICSs as transitional solution towards High Tier cooking Solutions especially for vulnerable households, IDPs, refugees and remote rural areas
• Clean cooking conceived as tool to promote integral human development, women empowerment

Partnership

AVSI aims at collaborating with CCA to foster affordable and quality solutions to improve domestic energy efficiency and reduce HAP in low income areas. We would like to share best practices particularly concerning behavioural change promotion and dissemination of high tier mass solution (induction hobs gasifiers, LPG/gas cookers). AVSI can contribute through its approach based on a participatory and holistic knowledge of the targeted “consumers” and communities; its comprehensive capability to deliver different clean cooking relevant activities on the field also in remote and vulnerable areas also toward the production of high quality carbon credits; and extensive experience in partnering with private companies and local authorities.
