"Improvement Cooking Stoves Project in Maputo"

Chamanculo C and Xipamanine are two neighborhoods of Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, which have a high density of population and very critical housing and hygienic conditions due to the lack of basic services. 95% of the population of the districts use cooking stoves with low energy efficiency.
AVSI Foundation is developing the “Improved cooking stoves project in Maputo†to promote energy efficiency, conserve natural resources and to improve the living conditions of the poor population who lives in Chamanculo C and Xipamanine.
The project involves the replacement of 15.000 “traditional food stoves†with improved cooking stoves with low environmental impact. By doing so, they spread a safe and responsible use of energy and reduce atmospheric CO2 emissions.
The project has an expected life of 8 years including the first 5 of implementation and 3 years of monitoring activities for the certification and sale of CO2 quotas
