Clean Cooking Activities

Our organization has taken a long term commitment to continue implementing activities that can of provide solutions for the indigenous vulnerable communities faced with reduced and endangered natural resources. Our approach is based on closely working with farmers while at the same time preparing young generation to the challenges created by the shift from a purely nomadic way of life to one based on the agro-pastoral system. ISP is currently working in 16 Primary Schools and our objectives is to increase the number of pupils and teachers that can benefit from regular training on agriculture and the ecosystem and gain advantages from the outputs of agroforestry plots. The promotion of alternative sources of energy and those systems that can alleviate the pressure on the ecosystem, like energy saving cookstoves, are an essential element of the overall intervention.

Partnership

Through its extensive knowledge of Uganda in general and the Karamoja Region in particular, ISP can be pivotal in providing inputs and supporting the implementation of any policy/activity aiming at further promoting safe cook stoves such as: - Share research findings, experiences and case studies. - Engage actively in lobbying and advocacy work to influence local, regional strategy. Involve communities and carry out specific activities aimed at creating awareness, facilitating access and establishing markets.
