Clean Cooking Activities

Indoor air pollution takes a heavy toll on children around the world, especially those in low-income and rural areas. UNICEF supports initiatives worldwide to increase access to clean cookstoves for vulnerable communities. In Burundi, UNICEF's Creatable program teaches students how to build rocket stoves, reducing health risks and enabling girls to focus on education instead of collecting firewood. In Zimbabwe, UNICEF implemented an improved cookstove program, reaching 3,480 households and reducing fuel consumption by up to 39%. The program empowered women to construct stoves, creating economic opportunities. Benefits included time and wood savings, reduced indoor air pollution, improved health, and positive impacts on local economies and education. In Nepal’s remote provinces, UNICEF distributed improved eco-cookstoves to over 9,800 households, mitigating indoor air pollution and involving children as change agents for climate awareness.

Partnership

UNICEF is an international organization with a presence in over 190 countries and territories. Partnering with UNICEF provides access to our extensive network and expertise, allowing initiatives to reach a wider audience and have a greater impact on vulnerable communities worldwide. Additionally, our wealth of experience and knowledge in areas such as health, education, child protection, and water and sanitation allows organizations to leverage these resources to ensure effective implementation and sustainable outcomes. UNICEF collaborates with a wide range of partners, including governments, NGOs, private sector entities, and civil society organizations. Partnering with UNICEF provides opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing, and collaborative partnerships with other like-minded organizations. This collaboration enhances coordination, efficiency, and effectiveness in addressing complex challenges and achieving common goals.
