Livelyhoods
LivelyHoods trains and employs disadvantaged youth and women in the slums of Kenya to sell clean cookstoves and other clean energy products, such as solar lamps, in their communities. LivelyHoods has been operating since 2011, and has expanded across Kenya, with locally-led branches serving as training and distribution centres in the heart of low-income communities. They work directly with the country’s leading cookstove manufacturers to source and distribute high-quality fuel-efficient charcoal and wood-burning cookstoves to improve the quality of life for Kenyan families in informal settlements.
Livelyhoods was awarded funding under the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstove’s Enterprise Marketing Fund (EMF). Funding awarded under the EMF is intended to enable individual enterprises to support promotion of their brands and products. Using this funding, Livelyhoods expanded their sales agent network and street marketing campaigns, created a stronger brand identity through visual marketing, and generated additional market leads by hosting live demonstration events.
