New Online Directory and Tools for National and Regional Alliances
A directory of active national and regional alliances – currently a dozen and growing – has just been added to the Alliance website under Country Profiles/National & Regional Alliances. The new directory serves as a quick reference guide for toolkits, country resources, and publications relevant to national and regional alliance audiences. Organizations and individuals looking for additional opportunities to actively participate in the cookstoves and fuels sector in their country or region can connect directly for introductions to partners on the ground, join local advocacy efforts, locate capacity building opportunities, and more.
This resource was developed in response to a growing number of national and regional alliances seeking guidance and support from the Alliance at the Clean Cooking Forum 2015 in Ghana. The Alliance convened local alliance representatives for a discussion of the shared experiences and challenges in forming, growing, and maintaining a local membership organization for the cookstoves and fuel sector. Participants expressed an interest in continuing and expanding these conversations with other local alliances, and an informal network was formed.
The Alliance will help to coordinate this network and facilitate connections between established local alliances in focus countries and nascent alliances in partner countries. As a first step, we have launched this new section of the site for those participating or interested in national and regional alliances. We anticipate this to be a dynamic resource that grows with the advent of new alliances and tools.
