Alliance Gender Resource Guide Launch in San Francisco

On December 4th in San Francisco, the Alliance hosted its first in a series of global events to launch the Alliance’s Scaling Adoption of Clean Cooking Solutions through Women’s Empowerment: A Resource Guide. The Resource Guide is meant for a wide-variety of sector stakeholders – including practitioners, donors, policymakers, multinational corporations, investors, and academic institutions – to increase their understanding of why women are critical to scaling adoption of clean cooking solutions and how to ensure they are included in every clean cooking value chain segment.

This event raised awareness about the Resource Guide and its objectives, provided an overview of the critical role women have to play in the sector, and highlighted some of the methods to effectively integrate and empower women in clean cooking solutions for the practitioners in the audience. Panellists and speakers included Tim Brown, President and CEO of IDEO; Chuck Slaughter, President and CEO of Living Goods; Debra Stein, Acting Executive Director of Potential Energy; Michelle Kreger, Senior Director for Strategic Initiatives at Kiva, and Corinne Hart, Manager for Gender and Markets at the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves.

The Alliance will hold trainings on the Resource Guide in various locations around the world in 2014.  Partners can find the guide here – www.cleancookstoves.org/gender, along with over 50 downloadable tools to apply the best practices featured in the guide.
