Celebrating the Graduation of the “Women in Clean Cooking Mentorship Program” 4th Cohort

The Clean Cooking Alliance is proud to celebrate the graduation of the Women in Clean Cooking (WICC) Mentorship Program’s 4th Cohort, jointly implemented with Sustainable Energy for All and the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition. This year’s cohort consisted of 63 mentees representing more than 20 nationalities across Africa and Asia. Since the launch of WICC in 2021, the program has supported more than 240 women and continues to build a strong community of female leaders shaping the future of clean cooking.

This cohort brought together entrepreneurs, engineers, advocates, researchers, and community leaders who share a common vision of expanding access to clean, affordable, and sustainable cooking solutions. During the program, mentees took part in six knowledge transfer webinars on topics such as carbon markets, entrepreneurship, fundraising, and leadership. They also participated in two networking sessions designed to foster collaboration and build connections across geographies.

Each mentee was paired with an experienced mentor who provided personalized guidance, encouragement, and sector-specific insights. Across the cohort, mentees used these opportunities to deepen their technical and leadership skills, refine their business models, and identify new opportunities.

This cohort’s achievements demonstrate the crucial role women play in driving clean cooking transitions. Their leadership advances health, climate, and economic development outcomes in ways that benefit entire communities.

Voices From the Cohort

Mentees shared their reflections during the graduation webinar, capturing the spirit and impact of this years’ program:

“Over the past year, I deepened essential knowledge, particularly on the process of generating carbon credits across various clean energy market pathways. These learnings broadened my perspective, strengthened my determination, and nurtured my sense of purpose. I leave this mentorship [program] with greater knowledge, renewed courage, and a strengthened sense of purpose. I carry with me the conviction that this network and this program will continue to inspire meaningful transformation.”
“I joined the program at a point when I needed guidance on navigating the job market and exploring venturing into carbon finance for improved cookstoves. [My mentor] connected me to so many opportunities, helped me build my confidence and, through her support and guidance, I was able to secure a new position. I’m deeply grateful for the mentorship, the knowledge shared, and the community built through this program, and I hope the program keeps mentoring more women in the sector.”

As we close this year’s program, we celebrate the incredible women whose dedication and leadership are shaping the future of clean cooking. Our heartfelt thanks also go to the mentors, whose support and commitment made this experience truly meaningful.

To our mentees: stay connected to one another and to the growing WICC community. We are excited for all that lies ahead for you.
