To build greater awareness among governments and the international community about the importance of gender issues in energy planning and policies; to have that awareness in new concrete commitments and actions by development actors mainstream gender considerations into energy decision making.

Clean Cooking Activities

Provision of LPG and biomass stoves to eliminate or reduce indoor air pollution. Purchasing and distribution of LPG and biomass stoves to women food vendors, households and the community in general. Training of women, men, boys and girls as well as local authorities to mainstream gender and use improved stoves. A target of disseminating one thousand LPG/biomass stoves to women in households. Six have been disseminated and funds are being sought to purchase the remaining ninety-four stoves for the women. The project has started from the community level and will spread throughout the country.

Partnership

The organization abounds in expertise on mainstreaming gender concerns into energy projects especially clean cook stoves and this will be brought to bear on the activities of the partnership. We could market stoves which have been tried and tested in order to reduce indoor air pollution.
