Clean Cooking Activities

Based in Indore, since past 30 years, the Barli Institute has completed 108 residential training programmes for more than 7200 young women from 750 villages of Madhya Pradesh and other parts of India. Almost all of these these women have been trained in clean cooking technologies (especially solar cooking) ; in which we have donated more than 480 SK-14 solar cookers to rural and tribal families.

In our residential training programs, we cook 3 meals per day for 300 days a year (for 100 women-trainees) on Scheffler solar cookers. Thus we save more that 150 trees (medium size: 15 feet height and 20 cm diameter) OR 12 LPG cylinders (of 14 kg each) per month!

Partnership

Since Barli Institute conducts residential training programs for rural and training women, we can function as facilitators of technology dissemination to these women, who come from remote and tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh Rajasthan, Gujarat, and other central Indian states.

We have been using the solar cooking technologies for since past 17 years, and have considerable expertise in this regard. So we can also function as demonstration sites for likeminded individuals and institutions who would be interested in conducting study visits , volunteering deployment, or internship activities in our Institute.

We would also like to upscale the solar and other clean cooking technologies by partnering with individuals, donors and other institutions who would be willing to help/fund us in achieving this objective.

We would also like to learn from experiences of other partner organisations in the network by attending conferences, seminars, research symposia and similar gatherings nationally and internationally.
