A global -movement that will help build a world fit for all. Better Family Life is a registered Trust in Kenya advocating for climate and renewable energy change in Kenya, Africa and globally. We aim at empowering women, championing children health, promoting greener counties, involvement in international relations, diplomacy and negotiations. We work in partnership with like minded organizations at local and international level in the delivery of organization activities.

Clean Cooking Activities

The Ji’koni Cook Stove (JCS) is a simple yet highly effective piece of technology which promotes energy efficient and makes vast positive difference in the lives of the very poorest families for rural communities. It replaces the traditional cook stove which is hugely inefficient requiring vast amounts of fuel for every meal. Indoor air pollution (IAP) from cooking with old traditional cook stoves and solid fuels is the fourth largest cause of death in the world’s poorest countries, and the majority of deaths are women and children, since they spend the most time in the kitchen. Black carbon (sooty particles) and methane emitted by inefficient cook stoves combustion are powerful climate change pollutants. Black carbon is essentially soot released in to the atmosphere through incomplete combustion. Black carbon is known to be a very powerful absorber of sunlight, far more so than carbon dioxide, and behind CO2 is the biggest contributor to global warming.

Implementing partners are organizations directly involved in the implementation of clean cooking solutions, which may include design, manufacture, distribution, marketing, or sale of cookstoves or fuels by the private sector, NGOs, humanitarian groups, etc.
