Clean Cooking Activities
CKC deploys micro-factories into the coconut value chain through production of coconut oil / virgin coconut oil. The micro-factory model is transitioning to a WHOLE NUT processing model to achieve greater sustainability metrics and zero waste targets. Utilisation of coconut shell towards sustainable charcoal and coconut husk towards bio-mass is a priority and to this end we visited a GAFCC project in Cambodia (Sustainable Green Fuel Enterprise (SGFE) to create a carbon partnership for deployment into our current micro factory model.

Coconut is the environment friendly small-holder palm of the tropical environment, Covering 12.28 million hectares in 90 countries with an annual production of 64.3 billion nuts. Coconut currently provides USD$ 7.73 Billion per annum to global coconut small holders. Estimates of by-product utilisation for coconut shell and husk are well below 10%. By increasing, or transforming, at scale, the utilisation of this rich calorific resource for clean cook stoves we may contribute to global schange, at scale, as envisaged by GAFCC.
