Clean Cooking Activities

Coffee farmers in Uganda are rural based and 90% of the households use wood fuel for cooking, our tradition empowers mothers to prepare meals for the home. Most of the homes still use the traditional three stone stoves which has a very low thermal efficiency . This has exposed a lot hazards to mothers and children who participate in cooking by supporting their parents deliver food or wood to cooking places. We agreed to start start improved cook stove project to support our farmer members to reduce deforestation, improve respiration systems, save on fuel cost by using higher thermal efficient stoves and finally generation carbon credits to support them financially and social community benefits . All individual households shall earn according to the number of carbon credits generated through the new fair carbon standard by fair trade of which we are certified.

Partnership

We are happy to be part of the partnership, we believe is learning new innovations and compare with other organisations and industry partners, we intend to report all our key performance indicators to the rest of the partners so that we can check and document our learning curve. We are looking forward to be supported to accomplish our scaling up of our mothers to the total number of 13,000 households. We are also looking forward to attend conferences and exhibitions to enable us learn from other members of the community.
