Clean Cooking Activities

We are currently collaborating with the Norwegian company Triple Energy on the production of pellets/briquettes from jatropha seedcake to displace firewood and charcoal in Uganda. In Rwanda, we would be assisting Metamorfose AS, a Norwegian social entrepreneur to implement its clean cookstove project and development of the carbon credit component. We also think that the successful implementation/adoption of clean cookstoves is contingent upon the improvement of the livelihood of the targeted beneficiaries - who depend to a large extent on freely available biomass fuel to meet their thermal energy needs. Hence, we also promote a project model that combines capacity building and entrepreneurship, in combination with micro-credit so that identified viable projects can be implemented by households. Income from this would help the households to pay for the stoves, the heat retaining baskets, and for the micro-credits.

Partnership

We have a good understanding of Africa and would like to participate by assisting in research to map out critical thermal energy poor communities, educating those communities on indoor air pollution and offering them the possibility to adopt clean efficient cookstoves based on tested models.
