Helping Hands Noramise

Mission

Helping Hands Noramise is a non-profit organization focused on holistic sustainable development in the town of Limbé, Haiti.

The Limbé Project aims provide jobs, education, and community resources, while making use of local labor and goods.

Our goal is to create a micro-development model focusing on sustainable local industries - clean cookstoves, composting toilets, agroforestry, and biochar agriculture through education and micro-finance programs.

Organizational Expertise

Humanitarian/Emergency Response, Livelihoods, Technology and Fuel R&D, Lab or Field Testing

Other Organizational Expertise

Have worked on clean cookstove projects in Nicaragua and Costa Rica, as well as prototyping different gasifier and rocket stoves in the United States, and I am focusing on developing a culturally appropriate, economically viable cookstove for Haiti.

Technologies & Fuels

Biomass (Ag. Residue, Processed Biomass, etc.), Charcoal, Pellets / Briquettes

Clean Cooking Activities

We are working on field testing rocket stoves and gasifier stoves (particularly the TChar stove) to find a clean cookstoves that find the cultural needs of the Haitian people.

Partnership

We are dedicated local partners - providing experienced Haitian community leaders providing an education and distribution mechanism to the local populace for clean cookstoves. Through our community center, we lead educational programs, and through a micro-lending program, we are working to encourage tinsmiths to beginning clean-cookstove businesses. We believe that it is the union of both education and entrepreneurship that will spread clean cookstoves.

What we need, what we are looking for, are international partners that would like to either field test different stoves or help provide funding for either of the costs of the stoves themselves, or our educational and micro-lending programs.
