Clean Cooking Activities

IRUP has already completed a project within flood-affected areas of the Chitral District of Pakistan. From July-August 2015 flash flooding with glacier outburst flooded the area with high intensity, causing human loss and intense damage to infrastructure, households, and other natural resources.

A total 1,486 houses were damaged, displacing 307,500 peoples. 80% natural fuel resources like forests, dump timbers, and fire woods vanished. 10 Micro Hydrel power houses were completely destroyed and off-grid residence ration increased by as high as 80%. Currently the Organization is planning to work on Solar Technology and more efficient fuel systems in different rural areas of the Province where electricity ratio is low as well as consisting off-grad areas. Due to vulnerable circumstances dependencies upon innovative approach is highly demanding. It is important to involve communities in rebuilding efforts, especially women who conduct highly laborious tasks, such as wood collection to cook and heat.
Women use traditional stoves for cooking, which produces smoke and soot, leaving their kitchens, cooking utensils and hands coated with soot. Women also suffer from a variety of illnesses and pains related to smoke inhalation.

Partnership

IRUP is ready to support the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves in the HCCF project i.e. Financial contribution as well as human resources through our technical experts in the deserving areas of the Province.
