Clean Cooking Activities

KONPAY's Alternative Charcoal and Clean Cook Stove Program is an example of how KONPAY strategically addresses the areas of agriculture, economic, social and health in Haiti. The program provides an alternative fuel to the traditional Haitian charcoal which fuel demands have caused over 76% of the deforestation in Haiti. The program empowers communities and equips them with the tools (the press and carbonization process equipment) along with the training to encourage economic empowerment of local communities in order to meet the demand of alternative fuel within the communities. The program equips families with two clean cook stoves which are all locally produced by KONPAY utilizing local material such as clay and metal. The design has included women's input and is culturally appropriate to meet Haitian cooking and customs. Program participants also receive a distribution of fruit tree seedlings to be planted locally as a way to reinforce the mentality shift necessary to build back a brighter GREENER Haiti!

Partnership

We would like to be kept up to date with on-going activities and information sharing and are open to opportunities that will help expand the capacity of our program.
