Clean Cooking Activities
Koshish specializes in the development, testing, and implementation of clean biomass cookstove technologies, with a strong foundation in performance assessment and field validation. Our team provides expert services in biomass cookstove testing, applying a full suite of internationally recognized protocols, including:
Water Boiling Test (WBT)
Controlled Cooking Test (CCT)
Kitchen Performance Test (KPT)
Uncontrolled Cooking Test (UCT)
These methodologies help evaluate combustion efficiency, fuel savings, emissions, and user behavior under both lab and real-world settings.
Our technical leadership stems from the work of Dr. Amit Ranjan Verma managed the Biomass Cookstove Laboratory at IIT Delhi, which served as a certified Regional Testing and Knowledge Center (RTKC) under the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (GACC) and was recognized by MNRE. Their field-tested experience spans dozens of projects, from test protocol design and field data collection to emission.
Partnership
Koshish seeks to participate in this partnership by offering end-to-end technical, field, and strategic support for clean cooking programs focused on biomass cookstove dissemination and carbon market integration.
We are well-positioned to contribute in the following ways:
Project Development: Designing scalable clean cooking interventions, including technology selection, baseline assessments, and community engagement strategies.
Field Deployment: Implementing on-ground distribution of improved cookstoves, household surveys, training of users, and ongoing monitoring.
Performance Testing: Conducting full-cycle testing using WBT, CCT, KPT, and UCT protocols to validate field efficiency and emissions.
Carbon Project Registration: Providing documentation and technical support for carbon credit registration under Verra (VCS) or Gold Standard, including baseline studies, monitoring plans, and MRV documentation.
Capacity Building & Advisory: Offering training to local partner.
