Clean Cooking Activities

NEW Initiative in collaboration with Matribhumi Energy Pvt Ltd has been working on researching and promoting a newly modified improve cooking stove called Matribhumi ICS(M-ICS). The especially of the M-ICS is the new air supply disk with projection whole (burner) is developed which is added to simple mud stove with additional small fan of 12 volt is attached to it for higher efficiency and smoke is passed through the chimney. The efficiency of stove is 24- 27% which is quite higher than other ICS with 12 to 18 % of efficiency.® The M-ICS stove also perform better without fan, hence® M-ICS stove is a® kind of revolution for mud stoves. It can save 60% of firewood consumption that means nearly 1/3 of firewood is saved while cooking.

The best part of M-ICS making is very simple, it can be made with simple fiber dye. It can be made within in few ® hours by a single person. The stove can be use as soon as it is joined.

Partnership

NEW Initiative has been promoting M-ICS, about 1300 of M-ICS already installed to rural areas of Nepal. The project is very successful with its satisfied consumers. There is ® possibility for wider replication in national as well as internationally.
