Rural Women's Network Nepal (RUWON Nepal)
Mission
Gender disparity is commonplace in Nepal. Although there are various causes of women's deprivation, it is partly attributed to socio-cultural factors that stem from an entrenched culture of patriarchy. RUWON Nepal strives to contribute to the country's economic and social development at the local, national and international levels by utilizing a grassroots approach to empowerment and using education and knowledge as the tools by which to achieve this.

RUWON Nepal identifies its aims towards the generation of creative awareness among rural women at the local level in order to facilitate them to assert their rights through the implementation of various programs. Knowledge and education play a central role in this; only through awareness and the exchange of knowledge can women be made aware and begin to assert themselves and attain economic independence.
RUWON Nepal has the additional objective of focusing on women from marginalised communities, the women who experience the greatest levels of poverty, gender-based violence, illiteracy and discrimination (from perceived ‘lower' castes, such as Dalits, Janjati and Madheshi groups).
