Clean Cooking Activities

SolarBuddy is developing FamilyBuddy, an innovative, solar-powered household energy hub designed for communities living in extreme energy poverty. The unit includes a DC-powered induction cooktop that replaces polluting fuels like charcoal, wood, and kerosene with clean, efficient solar cooking. FamilyBuddy also delivers cooling, lighting, device charging, and real-time telemetry to monitor usage and carbon offsets. We’re preparing to pilot 300+ units across Asia-Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa, aiming to improve health, reduce emissions, and enable inclusive, long-term energy access. Our work combines design-led engineering, community consultation, and carbon finance pathways to advance the global clean cooking movement.

Partnership

SolarBuddy welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with the Clean Cooking Alliance to accelerate the deployment of scalable, data-driven clean cooking solutions for off-grid communities. Through the development and pilot of FamilyBuddy - a first-of-its-kind solar-powered energy hub with integrated induction cooking and carbon tracking - we are redefining what clean cooking can look like in last-mile contexts.

We bring expertise in community consultation, design-led innovation, behaviour change, and impact measurement, as well as proven delivery capability across diverse geographies. We aim to contribute to collective learning, share field insights from our pilot programs, and support alliance efforts to shape policy, unlock climate finance, and advance global adoption of equitable cooking technologies.
