I have done extensive research on the possibility of replacing firewood dependence with briquettes pressed from dry biomass after having been brought in the rural set up and have initiated a pilot project on the same.

Clean Cooking Activities

We are using energy saving stoves which have complied with the locally made briquettes. This is surely a remedy to forest destruction, especially the Mau Complex and also climate change since the process is smoke free. We target the rural populations all over 2.8 million in the set up and even beyond. The project is on going, though on a small scale.

Partnership

We intend to improve on the briquettes quality, especially the moisture content, and thus we need a partner to assist work on this. We have the expertise but only need funding to purchase the necessary materials to fabricate the briquette press. This will enable us utilize our locally available raw materials like wheat straw, maize stalks, sugarcane trash and bagass.
