Clean Cooking Activities
The main project we currently work on is in Ethiopia. We developed a product which makes it possible to reduce Ethiopian household fuel use with 80%. This was achieved through the introduction of a new type of solar cooker and the need of reducing energy required to prepare the countries staple food injera.
Partnership
We learned from our work in Ethiopia that important developments can be realized by reducing the energy required to prepare the food itself. This was realized by knowledge sharing and interaction between many different stakeholders. Next to working on stoves and fuels it is for example very important to work on the pans and lids. Evaporation takes over 500 times more energy than heating the same amount of water with one degree. These kind of basic facts should be known, shared and considered when working of clean cooking projects.
