Clean Cooking Activities

Typically women in Tanzania including central corridor regions cook on three stones over an open fire inside their home. Without chimneys, the homes are smoke-filled leading to respiratory and eye diseases, while the open fire is a dangerous hazard for small children and vulnerable adults. Energy-saving stoves halve the amount of wood needed to cook, reducing pressure on forest resources, saving women time and effort, and reducing harmful smoke in the home. The cost of mud-stove construction is less than the sale price of a local chicken, which can be recouped within a month based on the local value of firewood saved.

Basing on this fact, Sunseed Tanzania Technologies is a Tanzanian NGO with Registration No: 1350. It has been working in the regions of Dodoma and Singida with poor rural communities to improve their livelihoods through agricultural development and agribusiness, BDS and market development systems and renewable energy (Solar and Domestic Energy Programs (SDEP)
