Clean Cooking Activities

Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Solutions was established to provide sustainable energy solutions for sustainable development and livelihood enhancement in Papua New Guinea, more particularly the peri-urban communities and the isolated, rural communities.

Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Solutions is for SENIS! SENIS, the anagram for Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Solutions is CHANGE in ‘Tok Pisin’. Tok Pisin is the second widely spoken and written language in Papua New Guinea besides English and Motu. SENIS is about the paradigm shift in strategy, planning, and development of energy solutions for sustainable development.

Our interest in clean cookstoves and/or fuels comes from our experience growing up in Rural Papua New Guinea. Most or nearly all of our mothers still cook from smoke-filled kitchens make from thatched leaves roofs and open fires. Cooking stoves to us is open fires and cooking from wood. on stones or empty cans of fish. Women have more health risks to such cooking practices and it is evident that they age faster than their male partners. Hence, our interest to pursue such a partnership in anticipation to improve our womenfolk livelihood.

Partnership

Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Solution (SENIS) would like to participate in this partnership as the National Partner is the procurement, distribution and installation of cooking stoves and/or fuels. With the principal engineer/consultant with over 13 years in the energy industry, particularly in the identification, assessment, and development of renewable energy for electrification in both the on-grid and off-grid, SENIS can conduct initial assessment and analysis of the target sites and demography.

From the initial assessment and analysis, SENIS would be able to formally submit a proposal to source funding through Clean Cooking Alliance for procurement, distribution, and installation of cooking stoves and/or fuels. SENIS can do the Evaluation and Monitoring and report accordingly to the Clean Cooking Alliance.
