Established in 1974 and with offices in many locations in India and abroad, TERI has focused on research into sustainable uses of energy resources and confronting global problems related to environmental issues and development.;TERIs strength lies in not only identifying and articulating intellectual challenges but also in mounting research, training and demonstration projects leading to development of specific problem-based advanced technologies that help society at large.

TERI played a key role in planning India's National Biomass Cookstove Initiative (NBCI); is a lead agency in Project Surya dealing with climate change mitigation and with support from DFID is focusing on adoption of ICs by 100,ooo househols in 5 year

TERI is continuing to conduct research, development, customization and demonstration of affordable cooking technologies to improve access to modern energy. We require additional networking oppertunities and promotion of our concept.
