Clean Cooking Activities

Our efforts in market development through awareness and capacity building especially in the clean cooking sector have been directed toward sector players whose products like charcoal cookstoves and briquettes mainly target the minority urban and peri-urban markets hence leaving the rural areas uncovered in Uganda. However in order to increase our involvement and impact in the sector, UNREEEA needs support in clearing the marketing and distribution bottleneck between the urban based manufacturers and dealers in the various clean cooking technologies and the majority rural market. Accelerating the dissemination of biogas as it is very suitable for the rural communities is also another strategy we intend to use in promoting clean cooking in Uganda.
Above it all, we intend to reach out to the rural communities that can’t afford the sold cooksstoves through training them in construction of clean and energy efficient Rock et Loren wood stoves using the locally available materials as way of entailing them in the clean cooking revolution in Uganda.

Partnership

UNREEEA being the private sector umbrella of all renewable energy and energy efficiency associations in Uganda, one of our primary roles is to promote the clean cooking through capacity building for the players, market development through awareness, policy advocacy and lobbying, quality assurance, and promotion of investment in the sub-sector. It is this arrangement that we want to amass synergies with GACC in areas like market development, capacity building, advocating for convenient sector policies, and promotion of investment particularly in the clean cooking value chain in Uganda.
