Clean Cooking Activities

For World Vision Peru, implementing projects related to clean or ecological cookstoves means starting a process that is binding on the general welfare of families, since the intervention does not only provide a cookstove as a food preparation element, but also Families understand its value based on the following reasons and comparative advantages:
- Promotes proper use of cookstoves.
- Improvement of the quality of prepared foods.
- Improvements in family health, especially on mothers and children due to the lower presence of smoke in the environment.
- Awareness and adoption of practices for environment care.
- Opportunity to be part of the service chain and production of parts or pieces of cookstove which are manufactured locally.
- Income generation, to invest in benefit of their children.
- It guarantees the saving of fuelwood, therefore it is possible to project a lower use of forest areas from where the extract biomass.

Therefore, cookstoves are a means to achieve the sustainable well-being of families as they can adopt simple technology which is adapted to their context.

Partnership

World Vision Perú, has over 10 years of experience in community work promoting the use of cookstove that have technology and are ecological. It is our interest to continue implementing new clean cookingstoves projects. Our projects have a community approach addressed towards preserving the environment and adapting to climate change which can differentiate and enhance the value of families on this issue.
To this end, World Vision works in partnership with the local municipalities to register the families who receive a clean cookstove and monitor their use once they have been installed.
With Gold Standard World Vision inttends to included a Carbon Certification process, since to date we have a project registered in the same area where we intend to install a new project. To this end World Vision will work with SENCICO (state entity that certifies cookstoves) for certification and specialized technical training processes.
Likewise, there will be a component related to local participatory research with a local Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo National University and a Health Research with the Cayetano Heredia University.
With all of our previous and future experience we intendo to contrubute to promote ans scale up the use of clean cooking stove to observe a real and positive changes in the families, contributing to their well-being.
