Post-Doctoral Fellowship, Environmental Health Science – UChicago
Overview
The Center for Global Health in the Department of Medicine at UChicago Medicine announces the availability of a post-doctoral fellowship position in environmental health sciences, with special emphasis on health outcomes resulting from household and ambient air pollution exposure, including but not limited to asthma, cardio-metabolic diseases and exposure-related maternal and child health in Chicago and Nigeria.
The Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago provides a stimulating and interactive environment with several laboratories interested in diverse aspects of human variation, statistical and computational genetics, cancer genetics, and clinical pharmacology.
Areas of research include epidemiology, genomics, epigenetics, biomarker, health disparities, geospatial and multilevel analysis, global health, and statistical modeling of environmental risk and outcomes. The postdoctoral trainee will have access to existing databases on ongoing household air pollution studies from West Africa.
Candidates will be expected to build an academic research career by developing their own line of research, undertaking data analysis, generating peer-reviewed manuscripts, and developing grant proposals that will support these research initiatives.
Requirements
Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in Public Health/Global Health, Environmental Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Molecular Biomedical Sciences, or related fields. Doctoral research experience, broad knowledge, and experience in environmental field studies and, in particular, exposure to science preferred. Clinicians with training or expertise in these areas are also welcome to apply. Multidisciplinary training or experience that cuts across fields is desirable.
Please note that applicants with more than three years prior postdoctoral training will not be considered at this time.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should submit an electronic copy of their curriculum vitae, a one-page letter describing their prior research experience, current interests and goals, and should provide names and contact information of three references to Christopher O Olopade, MD solopade@bsd.uchicago.edu.
