Research and Development Engineer, Aprovecho Research Center

Since 1976, the non-profit Aprovecho Research Center has been a world leader in sharing open-source design and testing technologies and services for improved biomass cookstoves to reduce the health, climate, and livelihood impacts of cooking with biomass over open fires, currently still practiced by 2.7 billion people in the world. Most famous for the Winiarski “rocket stove” which has been implemented extensively by grassroots and multinational organizations alike, Aprovecho is known for user-friendly, easily disseminated, and freely shared technologies to improve cookstove designs and testing facilities around the world. We are now seeking a self-motivated, intellectually curious, committed humanitarian and engineer to join us in this effort and also to expand our work into cordwood heating stoves on a 4-year grant funded by the US Department of Energy.

Aprovecho is situated on a beautiful campus in the coastal forests of rural Cottage Grove, Oregon. We have a long history of practice in sustainability, organic gardening, permaculture, and appropriate technology. This position is in-person only and may require some local and international travel.
