Clean Cooking Expert – SNV Eastern & Southern Africa
Job Description:
SNV is seeking an experienced Clean Cooking Expert to provide high-level technical support across projects promoting clean cooking technologies and standards in Eastern and Southern Africa. The consultant will advise on technology suitability, business models, investment-readiness, and integration of environmental and health standards, contributing to SNV’s mission of delivering sustainable energy solutions for underserved communities.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical advisory on clean cooking technologies and performance standards

Assess project proposals for alignment with clean cooking market demands

Support business model development and investment readiness of clean cooking enterprises

Integrate health, environmental, and efficiency standards into program design

Contribute to market intelligence and sector strategy
Qualifications:

At least 5 years of proven experience in one or more of the following:

Clean cooking technologies (e.g., ethanol, electric cooking, improved cookstoves)

Energy efficiency and emissions standards

Environmental and health impacts of cooking fuels

Clean cooking business and financing models

Regional and international standardization processes
