European Development Days – Healthy People & Planet
The lack of clean and sustainable energy in homes and facilities causes tremendous health and climate hazards and serves as a barrier to achieving many SDGs including universal health coverage and universal access to energy. The session will start with an overview of the current status of clean cooking and health care facility electrification in households and health facilities and its impacts on health, gender and climate. The session will transition into an interactive discussion on how the newly formed High-Level Group, can spur much needed political prioritization of energy for health, strengthen the cooperation between sectors, create an enabling policy environment, and scale up investments. The panel consists of high-level government representatives and heads of organizations and institutions in health and energy sectors.
