Modern Energy Cooking Forum
Modern Energy Cooking Forum (MECF) is a first of its kind initiative to create a platform, bring together key stakeholders and initiate discussions to enable the transition to modern energy-based clean cooking focusing on Electricity, Battery, and Solar. Modern Energy Cooking Forum: India 2022, is being organised by the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) Programme, through its In-country partner – India, Finovista and Supported by International Solar Alliance (ISA). The forum aims to consolidate and scale up the activities in India through co-creation and partnerships and as a prominent platform to facilitate networking and collaboration in clean cooking.
The forum would be attended by distinguished national and international speakers and delegates from the MECS Programme, Indian Governments, development agencies, financial institutions, corporate foundations, policy think tanks, experts, and clean cooking device enterprises.
MECS is a five-year initiative funded by UK Aid of the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) and led by Loughborough University and the World Bank’s Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP). The programme aims to break out of the “business-as-usual” cycle by investigating how to rapidly accelerate a transition from biomass to genuinely clean cooking. In India, the programme started at the end of 2019 as a Modern Energy Cooking opportunity mapping study, followed by meetings, roundtables, and a subsequent formal launch in February 2020.
