Results-Based Financing for Modern Energy Cooking Solutions: An Effective Driver for Innovation and Scale?
Webinar Overview:
Results-based financing (RBF) programmes in the clean cooking sector have gained increasing donor interest over the last decade. A number of programmes have been launched over the last few years to enhance access to improved or modern energy cooking solutions by various international donor and financing institutions, especially in the Global South. Due to the sheer scale of the important transition from ‘dirty’ to clean cooking, efficient and performance-proven solutions are urgently required but the question still remains whether – and under which conditions – RBF can be an efficient tool for scaling clean cooking technologies and access. Following the recent scientific analysis of clean cooking RBF programmes published by the MECS research team, this webinar aims to shed more light on the question for key success indicators of clean cooking RBF programmes through a lively discussion among key stakeholders, private sector companies, programme implementers, financiers and development organisations, who will share their direct experiences of RBF programming. The MECS team in cooperation with Energy 4 Impact (E4I) will present key findings of the upcoming RBF report – a comprehensive evaluation of recent RBF programmes – and discuss its central recommendations with the experienced panellists while drawing joint conclusions for the future of RBF programming.
