Save the Date: Nigerian National Clean Cookstoves Programme
The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves and the Nigerian Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria and other relevant stakeholders, are organizing the launch of the Nigerian National Clean Cooskstoves Programme for April 1-4, 2014 in Abuja, Nigeria.
This event will coincide with the 3rd Anniversary of the launch of the Nigerian Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, which set the target of 17.5 million households adopting clean and efficient cookstoves in the country by 2020. The National Clean Cooking Programme was developed for the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Environment with the support of Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (a DfID funded initiative) and the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, which works towards a global goal of facilitating the adoption of 100 million clean and efficient cookstoves by 2020. To achieve this ambitious target, the organizing partners are committed to facilitating the process and providing leadership to achieve this ambitious goal in a sustainable way.
The three-day event will bring together government agencies, donors, private sector partners, investors, and stove producers/importers with the aim of creating a platform that will catalyse the wholesale adoption of clean cooking technologies. The event will also include capacity development programmes on gender, impact investment, end-user finance and development of standards and testing for the region. There will be a roundtable event for donors which will lead to a pledging conference whereby strategic partners are expected to make commitments of funding support for the programme which will be matched by the Government of Nigeria.
We will be sending out a detailed program shortly and we would very much appreciate your support in identifying relevant stakeholders to attend the event. If possible, please send your suggestions to us by no later than February 28, 2014.
