WEBINAR: Research, Development and Innovations in the Clean Cooking Sector
Please join us on Tuesday, September 16th at 11:00 AM Eastern US time (3:00 PM UTC/GMT) for a webinar to showcase exciting research, development and innovations taking place in the clean cooking sector.
Many clean cooking organizations have been focused on improving technologies and fuels to improve performance, quality, affordability, usability, and robustness to different usage scenarios. To keep our partners updated on the increasing pace of innovation, we will be holding regular webinars to showcase interesting efforts focused on research and design. To submit nominations for innovations that you would like to see shared in future webinars, please visit: https://www.cleancookstoves.org/blog/aiming-high-for-standards.html. This webinar will also include a preview of the next round of the Global Alliance’s Pilot Innovation Fund.
Presenters:
• Jessica Tryner, Colorado State University
CSU is applying a variety of experimental and modeling techniques, including laser combustion diagnostics and computational fluid dynamics, to characterize semi-gasifier cookstove performance for a range of stove designs, operating conditions, and fuel types. The end goal is to design a stove that achieves Tier 4 emissions and efficiency and to provide the cookstoves community with knowledge and tools, in the form of experimental results and models, that will help to advance stove design.
• Patrick Sherwin, Matthew Gillespie, GoSun Stove
This company is pioneering a new style of solar vacuum tube cooking, with the aim of empowering people around the world with practical, innovative and safe clean cooking solutions. The team is currently working in Guatemala to research, develop and market test an innovative, economically accessible, and user acceptable solar auxiliary stove.
• Elliot Levine, U.S. Department of Energy
The U.S. DOE will provide a brief overview of their research portfolio focused on research and development for cookstoves.
• Karin Carter, Catapult Design
Karin will talk about their user-centered design approach, and the challenges for balancing a user-centered design approach with achieving significant innovations.
