Deadine Extended: Black Carbon and Organic Carbon Emissions Field Studies: Forced-draft Gasifiers with Pellets

The deadline has been extended to August 30:  The Alliance believes that building a strong evidence base is critical to adoption of clean cookstoves and fuels at scale. As part of this effort, the Alliance will be supporting efforts to fill in key gaps in the existing evidence base on the potential climate mitigation potential of different stove and fuel options. While there have been a studies that have reported on real-world black and organic carbon emissions from cookstoves, there is still relatively little information on how the cleanest-burning intervention technologies may impact these emissions. Specifically, the Alliance seeks to better determine black carbon emissions from forced-draft gasifiers using pellets in key geographic regions. These efforts will help the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) better quantify the climate benefits of scaling up cleaner, more efficient cooking technologies and fuels, and also inform the extent to which this scaling up may offer climate and health co-benefits. The data will be used to help support more informed decisions on policy, to strengthen standards and to improve modeling inputs.

The Alliance is seeking qualified experts to conduct field studies to measure black and organic carbon emissions performance metrics for forced-draft gasifiers with pellets during uncontrolled usage in households. Priority regions for this work include Sub-Saharan Africa, the Himalayan region, and Southeast Asia. Up to 95,000 USD will be available to support a field study to provide black and organic carbon emissions performance metrics.

The RFP has been updated to reflect that a maximum of 13% of the proposed project budget may be used for indirect costs.

This is the second of two studies on black and organic carbon that the Alliance has open RFPs for. More information about the first can be found here.

This RFP has been released through UNOPS. Submissions and requests for clarification should be directed to UNOPS. Further information on UNOPS procedures are available at: https://www.unops.org/english/Opportunities/suppliers/Pages/Business-opportunities.aspx

Deadline for proposals submissions: All proposals must be submitted by 17:00 CEST, Copenhagen, Denmark Time on 08/30/2016
