This document is intended for organizations (enterprises, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), implementers, etc.) engaged in the production and/or distribution of clean and/or ef cient cookstoves and fuels. Whether you own a business that manufactures cleaner-burning pellets, are the sales manager of an enterprise that sells ef cient cookstoves, or are the monitoring and evaluation of cer of an organization that distributes clean and ef cient cookstoves and fuels, you may want to know whether your work is having social impact. After all, you and your colleagues are working to make a difference in the lives of the employees and entrepreneurs you work with, as well as in the lives of the users of your products. But how can you tell whether you are, in fact, making a difference? Are entrepreneurs who distribute your clean and/or ef cient cookstoves/fuels experiencing any bene ts, like enhanced communications skills or expanded networks, as a result of their work with you? Are the users of your cookstoves/ fuels using them consistently and nding that this has positive effects on their lives? As the primary users of cookstoves and cooking fuels, are women, in particular, benefitting from the use of your products? These are questions we hope this Social Impact Measurement System will help you answer. 

There is a growing focus on interventions seeking to reduce the burden of disease associated with household air pollution. HAPIT provides policy-makers and program implementers an easy-to-use tool by which to compare the relative merits of programs both within and between countries, helping assist with optimization of limited resources. Although a number of uncertainties remain, HAPIT represents the ‘state of the science’ and relies on the best available knowledge – and is built to easily integrate new knowledge and findings to better hone estimates.

Regional Testing and Knowledge Centers (RTKCs) have the expertise to provide quality assurance, support product development, and general technical support. To ensure that these organizations have a long-term presence in the sector, the Alliance, in partnership with I-Dev International, has developed at comprehensive sustainability planning toolkit. This framework guides RTKCs through a 30-day process with tools and exercises to develop financial sustainability business plans.

The Clean Cooking Catalog is a global database of cookstoves, fuels, fuel products, and performance data. It includes information on features and specifications, as well as emissions, efficiency and safety based on laboratory and field-testing. The Catalog is driven by partner submissions and serves as living documentation of innovation in the clean cookstove and fuel sector. Inclusion in the Catalog does not reflect or imply an endorsement by the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves. Core functions of the Catalog are to champion the adoption of international clean cookstove standards and to serve as a tool for delivering robust monitoring and evaluation information to key stakeholders.
