Integrated Conference of Better Air Quality (BAQ) 2014
The importance of clean cooking was addressed prominently at Better Air Quality (BAQ) 2014, the leading air quality event in Asia covering transport, energy, industry and climate change, with a particular emphasis on government policies and measures. More than 1000 delegates from 24 countries including senior government representatives, international experts, and major stakeholders attended the December 2014 conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Policy makers, practitioners, and industry leaders from across Asia meet biennially at BAQ to network, innovate, learn, and share experiences.
The Alliance helped in planning a series of clean cooking-related events at the conference in collaboration with GIZ, the World LPG Association, and the World Health Organization, including sessions focused on:
- the role LPG can play in reducing harmful emissions from cookstoves;
- household air pollution effects on health and climate change;
- impacts of household air pollution on human health in Asia;
- opportunities for improving the efficiency and affordability of existing technologies.
